💨 Abstract
The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has criticized the Uttar Pradesh authorities for their lethargic attitude, as they had requested seven months to demarcate a river's floodplain zone. The NGT instead ordered the authorities to complete the task by January 15, 2025. The matter concerns encroachment in the floodplain of the Tedhi River, a tributary of River Ganga, in Uttar Pradesh.
