💨 Abstract
The Indian government has not received any proposals from high courts for the appointment of ad-hoc judges, two months after the Supreme Court allowed such appointments to reduce case backlog. The Supreme Court has set guidelines for these appointments, allowing for a maximum of 10% of the sanctioned strength of a high court. Ad-hoc judges will preside over a bench led by a sitting judge and decide on pending criminal appeals.
