Two Class 9 students, Kanisk Kanit and Himanshu Singh, drowned in the Mahanadi river in Sambalpur district, Odisha, while bathing near Dhobapada Ghat. The bodies were recovered on Saturday by a rescue team consisting of the Odisha Disaster Response Force and Fire Services. A search operation was initiated on Friday but had to be halted due to darkness.
