Puttur, Karnataka, celebrated Gandhi Jayanti by remembering a significant event from its history. In 1934, Mahatma Gandhi delivered a stirring speech in the town, advocating for the freedom movement. When the platform where he spoke was threatened for a bus stand, locals led by activist Amrut Malla saved it. Notable figures like Molahalli Shivaraya and Shivaram Karanth attended the speech.
