In the recently held Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, more than 70% of the 90 MLAs are graduates, with three holding doctorate degrees, all from the BJP. The National Conference (NC), the single largest party, has 16 graduates with professional degrees and 5 post-graduates. Eight BJP MLAs have matriculation as their highest qualification, while the NC has only one.
