đź’¨ Abstract
In Agartala, over half of the approximately 9 lakh consumers of the government-run Tripura State Electricity Corporation (TSECL) have not paid their electricity bills for several years. Only around 4.32 lakh consumers, mainly from urban areas, pay their bills, leading to a pending bill amount of Rs 475 crore. The situation is dire in tribal areas where most consumers avoid paying despite appeals.
