The CPI(M) in Kerala has stated that parole is a prisoner's right and the government and jail authorities are responsible for granting it. The party has distanced itself from the controversy over granting parole to Kodi Suni, a convict in the 2012 T P Chandrasekharan murder case, saying it has no role in such decisions.
