On May 12, police in Jharkhand's West Singhbhum district found the body of local village head, Manjit Haiburu, whose throat was slit. Haiburu, from Basahatu village, had been missing since a market visit the previous day. His body was discovered by villagers on a roadside in Basa Gamahria.
