The proposal for a 'Risk and Hardship Allowance' for Signal and Telecom staff in the Indian Railways is still under consideration with the Ministry of Finance, according to a response from the Prime Minister's Office. The Indian Railway S&T Maintainers’ Union (IRSTMU) has been pushing for the approval of this long-pending proposal since 2016, citing risks faced by their workers during train operations.
