đź’¨ Abstract
The Supreme Court of India has agreed to examine a contentious issue concerning Muslim ancestral property succession. The court will consider whether Muslims can be governed by secular Indian succession law without renouncing their faith. The decision comes after a resident of Kerala, Naushad K K, filed a plea to be governed by Indian succession law instead of Shariat. Similar petitions filed by Safiya P M and Quran Sunnat Society are also pending.
