Telangana, led by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, has become the first state to conduct a caste survey, following the vision of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. This was the first caste survey in independent India, with the last one conducted in 1931 during British rule. The survey revealed that 56.32% of the population belongs to the Backward Castes.
