Thousands of doctors in Kolkata protested the rape and murder of a medic at RG Kar hospital, demanding justice and safety for women, as well as an end to corruption in the state's healthcare sector and the "threat culture" in Bengal's medical colleges. Their rally, under the banner of Joint Platform of Doctors, slowed traffic near shopping areas during Durga Puja days.
