Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP Sushmita Dev urged reforms to the National Commission for Women (NCW), citing partisan actions and loss of credibility. Dev alleged the NCW favors politically convenient interventions, highlighting cases in opposition-ruled states while ignoring similar incidents in BJP-ruled areas. She called for structural changes, financial independence from the Ministry of Women and Child Development, and a review of the NCW Act 1990 to ensure neutrality and effectiveness.
