💨 Abstract

The Forest Department in Roorkee, India, rescued 34 protected rose-ringed and Alexandrine parakeets from two meat shops and arrested two individuals for trading in these species. The action was taken following a complaint by PETA and orders from the Divisional Forest Officer. The parakeets were confined illegally in cages at the shops.
