Walmik Karad, an accused in an extortion case linked to the murder of a village sarpanch, was produced in court in Beed, Maharashtra, amidst protests by his supporters seeking his release. The protests, which entered their second day, resulted in the closure of businesses, roadblocks, and protesters climbing mobile phone towers and water tanks.
