💨 Abstract
The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has ordered Kerala's chief secretary to provide details on actions taken to protect Ashtamudi and Vembanad wetlands, two major Ramsar sites. The tribunal is investigating the failure of authorities to protect these wetlands from pollution, allegedly caused by drain discharge, pharmaceutical waste, plastic, domestic, and slaughterhouse waste. The lakes are renowned for their biodiversity and tourism.
