In 2008, Narendra Modi, then Gujarat Chief Minister, sent a welcoming SMS to Ratan Tata after violent protests led to the exit of Tata Nano project from West Bengal. Modi's SMS led to the project being moved to Gujarat, where it was built at an investment of Rs 2,000 crore.
