Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, upon becoming PM in 2004, sought a detailed primer on India's nuclear energy department from Dr. Anil Kakodkar, then chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission. Singh, who had previously served as a member of the AEC, showed a keen interest in understanding the nuances of the strategic department, spending an hour and a half to read a 15-20 page brief.
