Harinder Singh, a former government employee, won as a BJP candidate against Haryana Congress president Udai Bhan in the Hodal constituency during the Haryana assembly elections. Singh, a close ally of Union minister Krishan Pal Gurjar, expressed confidence in his victory after receiving the party's ticket. He defeated Bhan by a margin of 2,595 votes.
