💨 Abstract

The India Justice Report 2025 reveals that while more women have joined the police and judiciary, they remain concentrated at lower echelons. In the police, only 12% of officers are women, with 52% holding the position of sub-inspector or lower. Former IPS officer Kiran Bedi attributes this low representation to social and systemic handicaps, including a lack of gender-sensitive infrastructure and family expectations.
