💨 Abstract
In December 2024, two studies published in Nature and Science journals provide new insights into the relationship between Neanderthals and modern humans. The studies reveal that Neanderthal genetic ancestry is present in Homo sapiens population, due to interbreeding that occurred approximately 50,000 years ago, and this process lasted for 7,000 years.
