💨 Abstract
India's next population census, initially scheduled for 2020, has been rescheduled and will now include a caste census for the first time since 1931. The data will aid in assessing marginalized communities' conditions, improving existing welfare schemes, and implementing sub-categorization of Other Backward Classes (OBC). Political parties may use the data to demand increased reservations, potentially expanding their electoral base.
