💨 Abstract
On June 24, 1983, a parcel bomb exploded at the office of Urdu newspaper Pratap in Jalandhar, Punjab, injuring three employees and resulting in the deaths of two. The parcel, addressed to the chief editor, was opened by a peon who thought it contained propaganda material. The attack was the first use of a parcel bomb as a weapon in Punjab and led to a new terror tactic.
