The BJP is pushing for an amendment in the Waqf Act in Parliament, finding support in Kerala where a 400-acre land dispute between the Waqf Board and over 600 families has escalated into a state-wide campaign. The dispute in Munambam, a coastal village, has been ongoing for two years, with the families unable to pay property tax or exercise revenue rights after the Waqf Board claimed the land.
