💨 Abstract

A light-sensitive plant tissue uses optical properties of the interface between air and water to generate a 'visible' light gradient to the plant. This information is invaluable for orienting oneself or optimal positioning in the environment. The majority of living organisms (microorganisms, plants and animals) have the ability to determine where light is coming from.
