💨 Abstract

Researchers at the Montefiore Einstein Comprehensive Cancer Centre discovered that alveolar macrophages, immune cells in the lungs, prevent cancer cells from growing into tumors elsewhere in the body. These macrophages keep cancer cells in a dormant state by secreting a protein called TGF-b2. This study could lead to new therapies to prevent or treat metastatic disease.
