Kenyan runner Ruth Chepngetich set a new women's marathon world record in Chicago, shaving almost two minutes off the previous best with an unofficial time of 2:09:57. She left her competitors behind by the halfway mark, claiming her third title in Chicago and breaking Ethiopian Tigist Assefa's record of 2:11:53, set last year in Berlin.
