At the FIDE World Rapid Championships in Doha, D Gukesh, Arjun Erigaisi, and Magnus Carlsen led after five rounds with 4.5 points each. Carlsen had a strong start but was held to a draw by Erigaisi. Gukesh had a solid performance after an initial draw. Defending champion Volodar Murzin struggled, finishing with 2 points.
