💨 Abstract

D Gukesh, a 18-year-old chess grandmaster, led India to its first-ever Chess Olympiad gold in the 'Open' category in Budapest. He started as an extra-curricular activity in school and was discovered by his coach V Bhaskar at the age of seven. Bhaskar, who saw his hunger to excel, trained him for years.
