Top seed Aryna Sabalenka, defending her Australian Open title, said the early exit of other top players doesn't make her path easier due to the competitive field. Fifth seed Zheng Qinwen, a title rival, was defeated by Laura Siegemund, leaving one less seed for Sabalenka to worry about. Sabalenka won her second round match against Jessica Bouzas Maneiro in straight sets, and will face Dane Clara Tauson next.
