The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has announced it is taking legal action against five companies for using artificial intelligence (AI) in deceptive and unfair ways. FTC Chair Lina M. Khan stated that using AI tools to mislead or defraud people is illegal, and the FTC's actions demonstrate that there is no exemption for AI from existing laws.
