đź’¨ Abstract
Indonesia has banned sales of Google's Pixel smartphones due to local content rules requiring at least 40% of parts to be domestically manufactured. This follows a similar ban on Apple's iPhone 16. Google stated that its Pixel phones are not officially distributed in Indonesia, and the country may deactivate illicitly sold phones. The move is seen as "pseudo" protectionism, potentially hurting consumers and investor confidence.
