Meta Platforms is testing advertisements on its social media app, Threads, with a few brands in the U.S. and Japan. The app has over 300 million monthly active users. Image ads will appear in the Threads home feed for a small percentage of users, with businesses able to extend their existing Meta ad campaigns to Threads. Meta will also test an inventory filter for ads, allowing advertisers to control the sensitivity level of organic content their ads appear next to.
