Meta's WhatsApp service reported that Israeli company Paragon Solutions targeted approximately 90 of its users, including journalists and members of civil society. WhatsApp sent a cease-and-desist letter to Paragon following the hack, and the hacking effort has since been disrupted. Targets are being referred to the Canadian internet watchdog group Citizen Lab, and law enforcement and industry partners have been informed. The FBI did not comment immediately.
