💨 Abstract
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) has announced the suspension of production of advanced AI chips for Chinese chip design companies, effective from Monday. TSMC will no longer produce AI chips with process nodes of 7 nanometres or smaller. Any future supplies of such chips to Chinese customers will be subject to an approval process likely involving the U.S. government. TSMC and the U.S. Department of Commerce did not immediately comment on the matter.
