The U.S. has issued a six-month sanctions exemption for transactions with Syrian governing institutions to ease humanitarian assistance and energy transactions. The move was welcomed by the U.N. special envoy on Syria, Geir Pedersen, but he called for more significant work to address sanctions and designations.
