💨 Abstract

Tropical Storm Helene causes life-threatening flooding in the Carolinas, killing at least 33 people, leaving 4 million homes and businesses without power, and causing widespread destruction in Florida and Georgia. The storm weakened to a tropical depression over Tennessee and Kentucky, but still produced catastrophic flooding in the southern Appalachians.
