In the Australian national elections, opposition leader Peter Dutton conceded defeat in his own parliamentary seat, Dickson, to Labor Party candidate Ali France. Dutton, a former policeman known for his tough stance on crime and immigration, lost the seat with a margin of 1.7% at the last federal election in 2022. The incumbent Labor Party was forecasted to win the election by broadcaster ABC.
