💨 Abstract
Russia has suspended gas deliveries to Austria from Saturday, leaving Hungary and Slovakia as its only significant European gas recipients. This move follows a contractual dispute between Russia's Gazprom and Austria's OMV, and signals the end of Russia's last remaining gas flows to Europe. Austria, which was one of the first Western European countries to buy Russian gas, is now preparing for an energy crisis, as it relies heavily on Russian gas.
