Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev accused Russia of shooting down a passenger plane last week, killing 38 people. Aliyev stated that the plane had been subjected to electronic jamming before being shot at while approaching Grozny, Russia. He claimed that Russian authorities initially spread false information about the cause of the crash, which was attributed to a bird strike or gas cylinder explosion. Aliyev wants Russia to accept responsibility and punish those involved.
