The High Court in Dhaka, Bangladesh has upheld the death sentence for 20 students of the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) for beating to death a fellow student, Abrar Fahad, in 2019 over a political affiliation dispute. The students belonged to the disbanded Bangladesh Chhatra League, the student wing of the Awami League. The court also upheld life imprisonment for five other convicts.
