A month-long oil spill in the Black Sea has worsened, with seven new slicks detected in Crimea, Russia. The spill originated from two ageing tankers hit by a storm in the Kerch Strait on December 15. The clean-up efforts have been deemed insufficient by President Putin, who called it a severe environmental challenge.
