Botswana's President Mokgweetsi Masisi conceded defeat on Friday, acknowledging that his ruling party, Botswana Democratic Party (BDP), had lost its parliamentary majority in the recent election. The opposition coalition, Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC), led by lawyer Duma Boko, was reported to have won over half the parliamentary seats, based on preliminary results from over half the constituencies.
