đź’¨ Abstract
In China, six members of the Early Rain Covenant Church, an influential underground Protestant church, were detained this week. This follows recent crackdowns on unregistered Christians as Beijing tightens control over religious groups operating outside the Communist Party's oversight. The church, based in Chengdu, has faced previous raids and detentions, including its founder Wang Yi's nine-year prison sentence in 2018. Human Rights Watch and other NGOs have called for the immediate release of the detained members.
