💨 Abstract

A Congolese court sentenced three Chinese citizens to seven years in prison for illegal activities linked to artisanal mining. The trio were found guilty of money-laundering, illegal purchase, and possession of mineral substances, and were fined $600,000. They were the first Chinese nationals to face trial since the Democratic Republic of Congo's push to curb unlicensed mining.
