💨 Abstract
Costa Rica's Supreme Court has asked the legislature to remove President Rodrigo Chaves' immunity, allowing him to be prosecuted on corruption charges. The court also requested the prosecution of Culture Minister Jorge Rodriguez in the same case. The attorney general's office accused Chaves’ government of awarding kickbacks using funds from CABEI. Both Chaves and Rodriguez face imprisonment if convicted and have denied the accusations. Additional charges of illicit campaign financing from the 2022 election are also pending.
