💨 Abstract
Denmark has acknowledged that it has long neglected the defense of Greenland, a strategically important Arctic island, after President-elect Trump expressed interest in acquiring it for U.S. security. Trump has suggested using military or economic action to achieve control over Greenland, but the U.S. embassy in Denmark stated that there are no plans to increase military presence there. Denmark's defense minister has pledged to make necessary investments in ships and aircraft to monitor Greenland.
