💨 Abstract
A new ten-year study of 152 recreational marathon runners found that while the heart's right ventricle shows short-term strain after races, it recovers quickly and there is no lasting damage over time. Elevated troponin levels post-marathon, often mistaken for heart damage, are actually temporary and benign. The study reassures that for most recreational runners, marathon training does not cause long-term heart issues.
