An earthquake of magnitude 5.4 occurred southeast of Kotamobagu, Sulawesi, Indonesia, at midnight, as reported by the National Centre for Seismology (NCS). Earlier, a 4.3-magnitude earthquake hit Japan, northwest of Tokyo. Tremors were also felt in some parts of Jammu and Kashmir after a 5.8-magnitude earthquake struck Afghanistan.
