European officials have abandoned the plan to impose a ban on Russian liquefied natural gas imports within the EU due to resistance from some governments and uncertainties about alternative sources. Instead, the EU Commission is working on a new strategy to end its reliance on Russian energy by 2027, with details to be announced in early May. The Commission is also considering the possibility of increased U.S. gas imports as a negotiation tool to persuade the U.S
